Culture, Museums Climate | Postgraduate studies

The Culture, Museums and Climate postgraduate course offers unprecedented and strategic training for professionals who wish to act in a reflective and transformative way at the intersection between culture, museums and socio-environmental sustainability in the face of the global climate emergency and the impacts on biodiversity loss. Aligned with SDG 13 of the 2030 Agenda, the course integrates knowledge about climate change and innovative cultural practices capable of sensitizing, preventing, mitigating and regenerating territories and communities, using the potential of cultural spaces and projects as agents and instruments for building new awareness and possible futures.

The course program mixes knowledge with practice, inviting students to reflect and act on the role of culture in socio-environmental mobilization, in the face of the impacts of extreme events and in the promotion of climate justice, always with an emphasis on equity and the formation of awareness, literacy and socio-climate engagement. Inspiring case studies and practical projects will permeate the content and stimulate students’ leadership and innovation skills, preparing them to act in a reflective and entrepreneurial way in museums, cultural spaces, events and other cultural actions in poles of resilience and environmental regeneration. To carry out this course, we brought together the expertise of Faculdade UNIMAIS, the Brazilian Association of Cultural Management, RegeneraMuseu and Expomus in partnership with the Museum of the Portuguese Language, in São Paulo.

The thematic modules were planned based on a selection of themes central to the exploration of the fields of culture and climate change, with a careful scale of professors/professionals with consistent academic training and executive and/or activist performance in the environmental, social and sustainability sectors. The methodology of the course is dialogical between theory and practice, and proposes precisely the reflection linked to action on the role of culture and museums in socio-environmental mobilization for the impacts of climate change. .

The lato sensu postgraduate course in Culture, Museums and Climate is an initiative of the Brazilian Association of Cultural Management (ABGC) and Faculdade UniMais, co-carried out with RegeneraMuseu and with the institutional support of Expomus and a partnership with the Museum of the Portuguese Language and the Botanical Garden Institute.
