Red List and the illicit trafficking of cultural goods – 2nd class

After the success of the first class, held in 2023 with more than 600 students enrolled, the Red List and Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Goods course offers a new training cycle. Online and free, the course was conceived by ICOM Brasil and is carried out by the Brazilian Association of Cultural Management (ABGC), with institutional support from SESI Lab and Expomus.

The course aims to inform, guide and disseminate to professionals who work in the cultural sector, linked to the universe of museums, cultural heritage, art market and the like, about the importance of combating the illicit trafficking of Brazilian cultural goods, mainly through institutional cooperation, nationally and internationally.

Divided into four modules with 12 hours of content in total, the course presents information about the history of Red Lists and illicit trafficking; data on the elaboration and how to use and disseminate it; and a workshop to identify these assets in order to collaborate with the entities involved in the area.

The Red Lists are reference documents prepared by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) to disseminate information on typologies of cultural objects most at risk of illicit trafficking. The Brazil Red List is one of the most recent, and innovated by including ethnographic and paleontological objects.
